ENTERED ACTIVE SERVICE AS A DRAFTEE ON DECEMBER 3, 1942 AT SCOTT FIELD, ILLINOIS. COMPLETED BASIC TRAINING AND QUALIFIED IN THE MILITARY OCCUPATIONAL SPECIALTY OF CLERK/TYPIST (MOS 405). DEPARTED THE CONTINENTAL U.S. ON OCTOBER 6, 1942 BOUND FOR THE PACIFIC THEATER OF OPERATIONS. SERVED WITH UNKNOWN UNITS IN THE NORTHERN SOLOMONS CAMPAIGN. RETURNED STATESIDE ON FEBRUARY 22, 1944 AND REASSIGNED TO HEADQUARTERS COMPANY, EAST COAST PERSONNEL CENTER, SERVICE COMMAND UNIT 1114. HONORABLY DISCHARGED AS A PRIVATE FIRST CLASS ON JANUARY 13, 1946 AT THE SEPARATION CENTER, FORT DEVENS, MASSACHUSETTS. EARNED THE GOOD CONDUCT MEDAL, AMERICAN CAMPAIGN MEDAL, ASIATIC-PACIFIC CAMPAIGN WITH 1 BRONZE BATTLE STAR, AND THE WWII VICTORY MEDAL.
