Activity During WWII

Assigned to the 515th Bombardment Squadron 'SATAN'S KIDS', of the 376th Bombardment Group 'LIBERANDOS'. On 1 August 1943, as a tail gunner of the B 24-Crew 'Dopey Goldberg' he flew in the Ploesti Oil Raids. On 16 August 1943, he was a tail gunner on the B-24 'Teggie Ann' when it was shot down over Foggia, Italy. He was a prisoner of war of the Germans until the end of the War. He earned the Distinguished Flying Cross, Air Medal with 5 Oak Leaf Clusters, European-African-Middle Eastern Theater Medal with 4 battle stars, Good Conduct Medal, Prisoner of War Medal, and WWII Victory Medal.
