He fought in the ETO, 1944-1945, in Gen. Patton's Third Army, in the 345th Regiment of the 87th Infantry ("Golden Acorn") Division, in Company "F" of 2nd Battalion. He saw action in both the ARDENNES (THE BATTLE OF THE BULGE) and RHINELAND (THE SIEGFRIED LINE) Campaigns. He was awarded the PRESIDENTIAL UNIT CITATION, BRONZE STAR, PURPLE HEART, Combat Infantryman Badge, EAME Campaign Ribbon with two (2) Bronze Service Stars, Good Conduct Medal, American Campaign Medal, and Sharpshooter Badge with Rifle Bar. Also received WW II Victory Medal and Honorable Service Lapel Button WWII.
