Activity During WWII

Served in 8th Air Force and Army Infantry. Graduated from high school June 10, 1943 and was drafted June 15, 1943. Trained 16 weeks as Radio Operator for B-17's. Landed in the United Kingdom, 3/21/44 and was with the 8th Air Force until January 1945 when 65,000 of us in the Air Force were sent to Southern England for Infantry training and replacements needed after the Battle of the Bulge. Ended up as a Radio Operator Forward Observer for a 155 Horwitzer Battalion attached to the 106th Infantry Division. Took part in the following Campaigns: Northern France, Rhineland and Central Europe. After the surrender I was transferred to 3rd Armored Division. Then came home with the 100th Infantry on the basis of points, highest rank achieved was Technician 5th Grade, discharged 1/29/46. Deceased February 21, 1992.
