ENLISTED IN THE CORPS OF MILITARY POLICE AND ENTERED ACTIVE SERVICE ON JUNE 11, 1946. COMPLETED BASIC TRAINING AND DEPARTED THE CONTINENTAL U.S. ON SEPTEMBER 19, 1946 BOUND FOR MANILA, PHILIPPINE ISLANDS, WHERE HE ATTENDED THE CLERK-TYPIST COURSE AND QUALIFIED IN THAT MILITARY OCCUPATIONAL SPECIALTY (MOS 405). ASSIGNED TO AND SERVED WITH THE 738TH MILITARY POLICE BATTALION. HONORABLY DISCHARGED AS A SERGEANT ON NOVEMBER 6, 1947 AT THE SEPARATION CENTER, FAIRFIELD-SUISUN ARMY AIR BASE, CALIFORNIA. EARNED THE WWII VICTORY MEDAL FOR SERVICE DURING THE PERIOD OF ELIGIBILITY.
