ENTERED ACTIVE SERVICE AS A DRAFTEE ON APRIL 3, 1945 AT CHICAGO, ILLINOIS. SELECTED FOR SERVICE WITH THE CAVALRY, COMPLETED BASIC TRAINING, AND QUALIFIED IN THE MILITARY OCCUPATIONAL SPECIALTY OF LIGHT TRUCK DRIVER (MOS 345). DEPARTED THE CONTINENTAL U.S. ON OCTOBER 6, 1945 BOUND FOR THE ASIATIC-PACIFIC THEATER OF OPERATIONS. ASSIGNED TO AND SERVED WITH THE 77TH MECHANIZED RECONNAISSANCE TROOP ENGAGED IN THE OCCUPATION OF JAPAN. HONORABLY DISCHARGED AS A TECHNICIAN FIFTH GRADE ON DECEMBER 10, 1946 AT THE SEPARATION CENTER, CAMP BEALE, CALIFORNIA. EARNED THE ASIATIC-PACIFIC CAMPAIGN MEDAL, WWII VICTORY MEDAL, AND THE ARMY OF OCCUPATION MEDAL (JAPAN).
