ENTERED ACTIVE SERVICE AS A DRAFTEE ON JULY 13, 1943 AT CHICAGO, ILLINOIS. SELECTED FOR SERVICE WITH THE ORDNANCE DEPARTMENT, COMPLETED BASIC TRAINING, AND QUALIFIED IN THE MILITARY OCCUPATIONAL SPECIALTY OF AMMUNITION SUPPLY TECHNICIAN (MOS 505). DEPARTED THE CONTINENTAL U.S. ON JANUARY 17, 1944 BOUND FOR THE EUROPEAN THEATER OF OPERATIONS. ASSIGNED TO AND SERVED WITH THE 1928TH ORDNANCE ARMAMENT COMPANY (AVIATION). ATTENDED THE ADVANCED (AVIATION) AMMUNITION COURSE AT THE ARMY AIR FORCES AMMUNITION SCHOOL (AVIATION) IN ENGLAND. HONORABLY DISCHARGED AS A TECHNICAL SERGEANT ON APRIL 6, 1946 AT THE SEPARATION CENTER, JEFFERSON BARRACKS, MISSOURI. EARNED THE GOOD CONDUCT MEDAL, THE DISTINGUISHED UNIT BADGE, EUROPEAN-AFRICAN-MIDDLE EASTERN CAMPAIGN MEDAL, AND THE WWII VICTORY MEDAL.
