ENTERED ACTIVE SERVICE AS A DRAFTEE ON FEBRUARY 23, 1943 AT CHICAGO, ILLINOIS. SELECTED FOR THE COAST ARTILLERY CORPS, COMPLETED BASIC TRAINING, AND QUALIFIED IN THE MILITARY OCCUPATIONAL SPECIALTY OF ARMORER (MOS 511). DEPARTED THE CONTINENTAL U.S. ON JULY 25, 1943 BOUND FOR THE PACIFIC THEATER OF OPERATIONS. ASSIGNED TO AND FOUGHT WITH BATTERY B, 210TH ANTI-AIRCRAFT ARTILLERY (AUTOMATIC WEAPONS) BATTALION, IN THE NEW GUINEA AND LUZON CAMPAIGNS. HONORABLY DISCHARGED AS A TECHNICIAN FIFTH GRADE ON JANUARY 7, 1946 AT THE SEPARATION CENTER, JEFFERSON BARRACKS, MISSOURI. EARNED THE GOOD CONDUCT MEDAL, ASIATIC-PACIFIC CAMPAIGN MEDAL WITH 2 BRONZE BATTLE STARS, WWII VICTORY MEDAL, AND THE PHILIPPINE LIBERATION MEDAL WITH 1 BRONZE BATTLE STAR.
