ENTERED ACTIVE SERVICE ON DECEMBER 21, 1944 AT CHICAGO, ILLINOIS. SELECTED FOR THE CAVALRY, COMPLETED BASIC TRAINING, AND QUALIFIED IN THE MILITARY OCCUPATIONAL SPECIALTY OF RIFLEMAN (MOS 745). DEPARTED THE CONTINENTAL U.S. ON MAY 16, 1945 BOUND FOR THE PACIFIC THEATER OF OPERATIONS. ASSIGNED TO AND SERVED WITH HEADQUARTERS TROOP, 1ST CAVALRY DIVISION BRIG, IN THE LUZON CAMPAIGN. HONORABLY DISCHARGED AS A PRIVATE FIRST CLASS ON APRIL 10, 1945 AT THE SEPARATION CENTER, JEFFERSON BARRACKS, MISSOURI. EARNED THE GOOD CONDUCT MEDAL, ASIATIC-PACIFIC CAMPAIGN MEDAL WITH 1 BRONZE BATTLE STAR, WWII VICTORY MEDAL, AND THE PHILIPPINE LIBERATION MEDAL WITH 1 BRONZE BATTLE STAR.
