HE JOINED THE MARINE CORPS AT AGE 15 AND WAS CAPTURED AFTER THE FALL OF CORREGIDOR IN MAY OF 1942. HE SURVIVED THE DEATH MARCH OF BATAAN AND WAS IN A PRISON CAMP FOR 3 1/2 YEARS. HE WAS RELEASED IN 1945.
