ENTERED ACTIVE SERVICE AS A DRAFTEE ON MARCH 22, 1945 AT FORT SHERIDAN, ILLINOIS. SELECTED FOR DUTY WITH THE MILITARY POLICE, COMPLETED BASIC TRAINING AND QUALIFIED IN THE MILITARY OCCUPATIONAL SPECIALTY OF RIFLEMAN (MOS 745). DEPARTED THE CONTINENTAL U.S. ON SEPTEMBER 14, 1945 BOUND FOR THE PACIFIC THEATER OF OPERATIONS. ASSIGNED TO AND SERVED WITH COMPANY A, 724TH MILITARY POLICE BATTALION. HONORABLY DISCHARGED AS A PRIVATE FIRST CLASS ON JANUARY 5, 1946 AT THE SEPARATION CENTER, JEFFERSON BARRACKS, MISSOURI. EARNED THE MERITORIOUS UNIT PLAQUE, GOOD CONDUCT MEDAL, ASIATIC-PACIFIC CAMPAIGN MEDAL, AND THE WWII VICTORY MEDAL.
