ENTERED ACTIVE SERVICE AS A DRAFTEE ON MARCH 4, 1943 AT CAMP GRANT, ILLINOIS. SELECTED FOR DUTY WITH THE ARMY AIR FORCES, COMPLETED BASIC TRAINING, ATTENDED SURGICAL TECHNICIAN AND ADVANCED MEDICAL SERVICE SCHOOLS, AND QUALIFIED IN THE MILITARY OCCUPATIONAL SPECIALTY OF SURGICAL TECHNICIAN (MOS 861). SERVED STATESIDE WITH SQUADRON M, 224TH ARMY AIR FORCES BASE UNIT, (COMBAT CREW TRAINING STATION – HEAVY), SIOUX CITY ARMY AIR BASE, IOWA. HONORABLY DISCHARGED AS A SERGEANT ON FEBRUARY 9, 1946 AT THE SEPARATION CENTER, FORT SHERIDAN, ILLINOIS. EARNED THE GOOD CONDUCT MEDAL, AMERICAN CAMPAIGN MEDAL, AND THE WWII VICTORY MEDAL.
