RANK: PRIVATE 1ST CLASS. HE WAS INDUCTED INTO THE U.S. ARMY OCTOBER 12, 1942 AT FORT BRAGG, NORTH CAROLINA. SERVED IN THE EUROPEAN THEATER OF OPERATIONS ASSIGNED TO THE U.S. ARMY, 313TH INFANTRY REGIMENT, 79TH INFANTRY ‘CROSS OF LORRAINE’ DIVISION, U.S. 1ST ARMY. HE WAS A MEMBER OF THE VAST ARMADA THAT PARTICIPATED IN THE INVASION OF THE GERMANY’S FORTRESS EUROPE, D-DAY JUNE 6, 1944, OPERATION OVERLORD. WHILE EMBARKING FROM HIS LANDING CRAFT INFANTRY ‘LCI’, HE WENT ASHORE ON UTAH BEACH, NORMANDY AND ENTERED COMBAT JUNE 19, 1944. KILLED IN ACTION THURSDAY, JULY 6, 1944 IN THE VICINITY OF LA HAYE DU PUITS, FRANCE. HE IS BURIED IN THE NORMANDY AMERICAN CEMETERY, COLLEVILLE-SUR-MER, FRANCE. AWARDED THE PURPLE HEART MEDAL.
