ENLISTED IN THE NAVY ON 4-14-43. HE COMPLETED PRE RADIO SCHOOL IN CHICAGO, ELECTRICIANS SCHOOL IN BAINBRIDGE, MARYLAND, AND ELECTRICAL INTERIOR COMMUNICATIONS IN WASHINGTON, D.C. HE SERVED ON THE U.S. NAVAL TRAINING CENTER, SAMPSON, NEW YORK, AND THE USS DAYTON CL-105 IN THE PACIFIC. HE WAS DISCHARGED ON 4-9-46. DURING HIS SERVICE, HE CONTRACTED RHEUMATIC FEVER AND SUFFERED HEART DAMAGE AND HE WAS CLASSIFIED AS A DISABLED VETERAN.
