ENTERED THE UNITED STATES ARMY ON FEBRUARY 15, 1945 AND SERVED HIS COUNTRY DURING WWII AS A CANNONEER LIGHT ARTILLERY CREWMAN WITH THE 32ND FIELD ARTILLERY BATTALION IN THE PHILIPPINE ISLANDS AND IN GERMANY. PRIOR TO HIS HONORABLE DISCHARGE IN 1949, HE WAS THE RECIPIENT OF THE WWII VICTORY RIBBON AND SUBSEQUENTLY THE VICTORY MEDAL, THE AMERICAN CAMPAIGN MEDAL, THE ARMY OF OCCUPATION MEDAL (GERMANY), AND THE ASIATIC-PACIFIC THEATRE RIBBON.
