APPLIED FOR AND WAS ACCEPTED INTO THE AVIATION CADET PROGRAM. SELECTED FOR AIRCREW TRAINING AS A PILOT. HIS TRAINING CLASS WAS CANCELLED AND HE BECAME AN AIRCRAFT ENGINE REPAIR INSTRUCTOR. SERVED DURING THE WAR, WAS HONORABLY DISCHARGED AND ISSUED THE HONORABLE SERVICE LAPEL BUTTON. CONTINUED IN U.S. AIR FORCE RESERVE SERVICE AFTER THE WAR, WAS RECALLED TO ACTIVE DUTY FOR A PERIOD OF TIME, AND SERVED WITH THE RESERVES UNTIL HIS RETIREMENT WITH THE RANK OF MASTER SERGEANT.
