Activity During WWII

STAFF SERGEANT. His enlistment date was December 17, 1941. TRAINED At Will Rogers Field in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Assigned to the 97th Bombing Squadron, 47th Bombardment Group with whom he served in the Tunisia, Sicily and Naples-Foggia Campaigns during WWII. He received a Purple Heart because of a shrapnel wound from enemy fire on January 5, 1943 during the Tunisia Campaign. After returning from overseas he was transferred to Randolph Field near San Antonio, Texas, 2532nd Army Air Force Base Unit. He would then be transferred again to his last military assignment at Yuma Army Air Field in Yuma, Arizona, 3036th Army Air Force Base Unit. Date of separation was on September 7, 1945.
