JOINED THE ARMY AND WAS SENT TO FORT HUACHUCA IN TUCSON, ARIZONA WHERE HE WAS WITH THE 92ND INFANTRY DIVISION, TEACHING DEMOLITIONS IN READINESS FOR OVERSEAS. HE SAW ACTION IN THE MEDITERRANEAN, NORTH AFRICA, ITALY, SICILY AND FRANCE; HE WAS COMMANDING OFFICER AND TOP OFFICER UNDER GENERAL ROWNEY WITH THE 317TH COMBAT ENGINEERS AND 442ND NISEI REGIMENT (JAPANESE AMERICANS). HE SAW ACTION IN ROME-ARNO, NORTH APENNINES AND PO VALLEY. RECIPIENT OF THE LEGION OF MERIT, SILVER STAR WITH CLUSTER, BRONZE STAR WITH CLUSTER, PURPLE HEART, COMBAT INFANTRYMAN BADGE OF COMMENDATION RIBBON WITH CLUSTER, MEDAL FOR VALOR UNDER THE CROWN OF ITALY, ORDER OF ST. GEORGE, ORDER OF CONCORDIA.
