SERVED IN THE U.S. ARMY HONORABLY FROM 1942 TO 1945. HE FOUGHT THROUGHOUT NORMANDY, NORTHERN FRANCE, ARDENNES, RHINELAND AS AN ANTI-AIRCRAFT HEAVY MACHINE GUNNER WITH BATTERY #460 ANTI-AIRCRAFT ARTILLERY AUTOMATIC WEAPONS BATTALION UNDER THE 1ST INFANTRY DIVISION AND V CORPS. HE WAS AWARDED THE EUROPEAN-AFRICAN-MIDDLE EASTERN MEDAL, THE GOOD CONDUCT MEDAL, AND LATER WAS PRESENTED A NAVAJO VETERANS MEDAL IN 1982 TO COMMEMORATE HIS DEDICATED SERVICE TO THE UNITED STATES AS A COMBAT SERVICEMAN.
