SHORTLY AFTER THE ATTACK ON PEARL HARBOR HE ENLISTED IN THE U.S. ARMY AIR FORCES AS A PRIVATE. HE ATTAINED THE RANK OF CAPTAIN AS LIAISON OFFICER FOR THE 9TH AIR FORCE. HE SERVED OVER 4 ½ YEARS AND 3 ½ IN THE ASIATIC-PACIFIC REGIONS AND THE EUROPEAN THEATER. HE WAS AWARDED 2 BRONZE STARS FOR NORMANDY AND NORTHERN FRANCE. HE WAS GIVEN A UNIQUE HONOR BY BEING PRESENTED AN ULTRA-POLISHED PAIR OF PARATROOP BOOTS BY THE 101ST AIRBORNE FOR HIS SERVICE RENDERED TO THEM ON D-DAY.
