He served with the 185th Infantry Brigade of California's 40th Infantry 'Sunshine' Division during the retaking of the Philippine Islands. He participated in the following WWII engagements: Bismark-Archipelago Campaign; Luzon Campaign; and Southern Philippine Campaign. He was awarded the following medals for his service: Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal; Philippine Liberation Medal; American Theater Medal; WWII Victory Medal; 2 Purple Heart MEDALS; 3 Presidential Unit Citations; 3 Bronze Stars with 3 Arrowheads; Combat Infantryman Badge; Good Conduct Medal and received an Honorable Discharge.
