Invaded North Africa at Faid Pass. Germans captured Company 'L' ordnance band -- George was bartering for food with Arabs that night, so he escaped. Invaded Italy, Rome, Po Valley, Cassino. Wounded there, sent home for rest and relaxation, got married and sent back to Italy. War ended 9 months later. Pearl Harbor, no Christmas. February 1941 trained in Camp Claibourne, Louisiana; furloughs, shipped to Ireland.
