Activity During WWII

CORPORAL. Inducted into the U.S. Army on July 22, 1943 and was assigned to the 157th Regimental Combat Team, 45TH Division. He was discharged on November 30, 1945. Landed at Anzio on February 14, 1944 and left on June 6, 1944. He was wounded on January 18, 1945, turned 20 the next day, and was captured on January 20, 1945 during the Battle of the Bulge. Held prisoner at Stalag XIB in Fallingbostel, Germany, transported by box car for 7 nights and 6 days to Stalag XIIA near Limburg, Germany. He was liberated on April 16, 1945 and spent 63 days in a hospital in England. Citations include but are not limited to: The Purple Heart, Bronze Star, Combat Infantryman Badge, and EUROPEAN-AFRICAN-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal.
