Rank: Corporal. In July of 1944, he entered the United States Marine Corps from Colorado, receiving his Marine Combat Training at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot in San Diego, California. Served with Headquarters and Service Battery, 3rd Battalion, 12th Marines; a subordinate unit of the 3rd Marine ‘Fighting Third’ Division in the Pacific Theater of Operations. He died Saturday, May 12, 1945 in a non-battle incident and was buried in the United Armed force Cemetery #2 on the island of Guam. After the cessation of hostilities with Japan, his family had requested that his remains be interred at the Honolulu National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific, ‘Punchbowl’ Hawaii, with interment February 25, 1949. This Marine, an American Patriot, so gallantly gave his life for his country.
