KILLED IN ACTION ON NOVEMBER 27, 1943, WHEN HIS TROOP SHIP, THE HMT RHONA, WAS SUNK IN THE MEDITERRANEAN SEA NORTH OF BEJAIA, ALGERIA. THE SHIP WAS SUNK BY A RADIO CONTROLLED GLIDE BOMB FIRED BY A GERMAN HEINKEL 177 BOMBER. HE WAS A PRIVATE FIRST CLASS IN THE 853RD ENGINEER BATTALION.
