INDUCTED INTO SERVICE ON MARCH 19, 1943. SERVED WITH COMPANY 'H', 121ST INFANTRY REGIMENT, 8TH INFANTRY DIVISION. SAW ACTION IN THE NORMANDY, NORTHERN FRANCE, RHINELAND AND CENTRAL EUROPE CAMPAIGNS. WAS WOUNDED IN ACTION AT ST. LO, FRANCE IN JULY OF 1944 AND AGAIN IN FRANCE IN SEPTEMBER OF 1944. AWARDED THE BRONZE STAR MEDAL, PURPLE HEART WITH OAK LEAF CLUSTER, GOOD CONDUCT MEDAL, EUROPEAN-AFRICAN-MIDDLE EASTERN CAMPAIGN MEDAL WITH 4 BRONZE SERVICE STARS, WWII VICTORY MEDAL, ARMY OF OCCUPATION MEDAL WITH GERMANY CLASP, COMBAT INFANTRYMAN BADGE, PRESIDENTIAL UNIT CITATION, FRENCH CROIX DE GUERRE AND THE FRENCH MEDAL OF KNIGHT OF THE LEGION OF HONOR.
