HE PROUDLY SERVED HIS COUNTRY WHEN HE JOINED THE U.S. ARMY MEDICAL CORPS DURING WWII. HE WAS ONE OF SIX SURGEONS WITH THE 100TH GENERAL HOSPITAL OPERATING IN NORTHERN FRANCE AND THE RHINELAND. HE RECEIVED THE EUROPEAN-AFRICAN-MIDDLE EASTERN CAMPAIGN MEDAL WITH 2 BRONZE STARS. HE WAS DISCHARGED AT THE RANK OF CAPTAIN IN 1945.
