Activity During WWII

Entered the Army in the spring of 1943. Served with the 29th Engineer Battalion in New Guinea, Iwa Island in the Solomon Sea, Leyte and Luzon Islands in the Philippine Islands. While in Manila with only 8 members of his unit still actively serving, he was assigned to the 509th Bombardment Wing with the 5th U.S. army air force in the motor pool. Serviced B-25, P-40, and P-38 aircraft, INCLUDING THE AIRCRAFT OF General Doolittle and RICHARD Ira Bong, A Top Fighter Ace.
