Rank: Private 1st Class. He was inducted into the United States Marine Corps June 25, 1943 and participated in Basic Combat Infantry Training at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, California. Served in the Pacific Theater, where he experienced combat as a Rifleman with Easy Company, 2nd Battalion, 19th Engineer Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine ‘Fighting Third’ Division. Participated in the Battle of Guam, a United States territory in the Mariana Islands (Invasions Dates: July 21 -August 10, 1944) Code Name: Operation Forager. On Sunday, July 23, 1944, he died of wounds suffered in combat during the liberation of the island and buried at Sea by Administrative Decision. He is memorialized in the Tablets of the Missing located at the Honolulu National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific, ‘Punchbowl’ Hawaii and the Memorial Wall, Panel Eight located at the Asan Bay Overlook, Guam. Decoration and Citation: Purple Heart. This American Patriot was awarded the Purple Heart, who so gallantly gave his life for his country.
