Rank: Private 1st Class. He was inducted into the United States Marine Corps May 26, 1943 and received his Basic Combat Infantry Training at the Marine Recruit Depot San Diego, California. Served in the Pacific Theater, where he experienced combat with Kilo Company 3rd Battalion, 3rd Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine 'Fighting Third' Division. Participated in the amphibious assault on the Island of Guam, a United States territory in the Mariana Islands, Code Name: Operation Forager. On Friday, July 21, 1944 he was killed in action on the first day the invasion and buried in a U.S. Marine Corps temporary battlefield cemetery on Guam. After the cessation of hostilities with Japan, his remains were returned to his country and family, with interment in the Warrior Cemetery, Warrior Alabama. He is also memorialized on the Memorial Wall, Panel Twelve located on the Asan Bay Overlook, Guam. Decoration and Citation: Purple Heart. He was an American Patriot, who so gallantly gave his life for his country.
