Rank: Private 1st Class. He was inducted into the United States Army March 12, 1942 at Fort Collins, Colorado. Served in the Mediterranean Theater as a Rifleman, assigned to Charlie Company, 85th Infantry Regiment, 10th Mountain Division attached to the U.S. Fifth Army. On Monday, February 19, 1945 he was killed in action during the attack on Mound Della Torraccia, Italy and buried in a U.S. Army temporary battlefield cemetery. After the cessation of hostilities in Europe, his remains were returned to his country and family. He was laid to rest, with interment in the Grandview Cemetery, Fort Collins, Colorado. Decoration and Citation: Purple Heart. This American Patriot was awarded the Purple Heart posthumously, who so gallantly gave his life for his country.
