Activity During WWII

He enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps on August 31, 1942, at Cincinnati, Ohio. He achieved the rank of Private First Class, qualifying as a rifle marksman. He then attained special proficiency as a Guard Patrolman. He participated in the initial landing at Bougainville, a territory of New Guinea, on November 1, 1943, and engaged against Japanese forces until December 27, 1943. He also participated in the initial landing at Guam on July 21, 1944, and engaged in action against Japanese forces until August 10, 1945. He was honorably discharged from the Marine Barracks U.S. Naval Mine Depot at Yorktown, Virginia on October 23, 1945.
