Rank: Private 1st Class. He was a United States Marine, who served with Headquarters Company, 21st Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine 'The Fighting Third' Division in the Pacific Theater. He participated in the amphibious assault on the Volcanic Island of Iwo Jima (Invasions Dates: February 19-March 26, 1945), Code Name: Operation Detachment. On Saturday, February 24, 1945 he was killed in action and buried in the U.S. Third Marine Division temporary battlefield cemetery on Iwo. After the cessation of hostilities with Japan, his remains were returned to his country and family, with interment in the Beverly National Cemetery, Beverly, New Jersey. He was an American Patriot, who so gallantly gave his life for his country.
