Rank: Corporal. He was inducted into the United States Army January 2, 1943 at Allentown, Pennsylvania. Served in the Pacific Theater, where he experienced combat with the 34th Infantry Regiment, 24th Infantry 'Victory' Division attached to the U.S. Sixth Army. He fought in the Leyte Campaign, Philippine Islands (Invasion Dates: October 17, 1944-July 1, 1945). On Wednesday, November 22, 1944 he was killed in action during a combat engagement in the Leyte Valley and buried in a temporary battlefield cemetery located at Tacloban, Leyte, Philippine Islands. After the cessation of hostilities with Japan, his remains were transferred to the Manila American Cemetery located at Fort Bonifacio, Manila, Philippine Islands. Decoration and Citation: Purple Heart. This American Patriot was awarded the Purple Heart, who so gallantly gave his life for his country.
