Activity During WWII

He entered the Marine Corps in 1943. Serving in the 2nd Marine Division, he went on the invasion of Saipan in 1944. He was wounded on the day after the Island was considered secure and was awarded the Purple Heart. He would spend almost a year recovering from those wounds to return to service in 1945 before being honorably discharged at the end of the War.
