He was a 'Seabee' in the 6th Marine Division, nicknamed 'The Striking Sixth'. He was an engineer that helped build bridges, roads, and airstrips. During The Invasion of Okinawa, HE saw combat in Yae-Take and Sugar Loaf Hill. The 6th Marine Division was awarded The Presidential Unit Citation.
