Killed 17 October 1942 in a non-battle crash of B-17 in New Mexico. The crew of 11 was on a navigational training flight from Rapid City, South Dakota to San Antonio, Texas. Strong winds blew them off course approximately 175 to the Southwest and the plane crashed into Sierra Grande Mountain near Des Moines, New Mexico. Twenty-five years old at the time of his death.
