Rank: Private 1st Class. Inducted into the United States Marine Corps March 9, 1943 and received his Basic Combat Infantry Training at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot, San Diego, California. Served in the Pacific Theater and experienced combat as a BAR Gunner, assigned to Bravo Company, 1st Battalion, 24th Marines, 4th Marine ‘Fighting Fourth’ Division. Participated in the amphibious assault on the Island of Saipan (Invasion Dates: June 15 - July 9, 1944) Mariana Islands Campaign. Saturday, July 8, 1944 he was killed in action and buried in the Second and Fourth Marine Division Battlefield Cemetery on Saipan. After the cessation of hostilities with Japan, his remains were returned to his family in Texas, with interment in a private cemetery. In Remembrance and Honor of the Brave, his name is inscribed in the Court of Honor located at the American Memorial on Saipan. He was an American Patriot, who so gallantly gave his life for his country.
