Activity During WWII

He enlisted in the Navy on October 3, 1940. He was transferred to the USS WASP (CV-7) on April 25, 1941 and was assigned to VS-72. On July 9, 1942, on a routine scouting mission he went Missing in Action when his plane(a Dauntless SBD-3 dive-bomber, No. 03320) failed to return to the USS WASP. They were seen to pull up and out of formation and no radio contact was made and no trace was found. He was confirmed Killed in Action on July 10, 1943.
