Corporal; served in the Army Air Forces as well as the Army. He spent 6 weeks in Sheppard Field, Texas in the Glider Mechanic course, and an 8 weeks course for Airplane Mechanic in Gulfport, Mississippi. While serving in both the Air Corp as well as the Army he earned the Distinguished Unit Badge, the European-African-Middle Eastern Theater Medal, and the Good Conduct Medal. Battles served in include: Naples-Foggia, Normandy, Sicily, Northern France and the Rhineland. He was honorably discharged from the Army Air Forces to the Convalescent Hospital in Plattsburg, Barracks, New York.
