He attended Radio Operator School in Sioux Falls, South Dakota and was classified as a Technical Sergeant Five munitions handler. he served for twenty three and a half months in Italy, Egypt, india and china and was involved in the Naples-Foggia campaign, European-African-middle eastern campaign and the air offensive Europe campaign. He received the American theater ribbon, European-African-middle eastern ribbon, good conduct medal and the Ruptured Duck lapel pin. He served honorably from 29 July 1942 to 19 December 1945. He was discharged at Fort Bliss, Texas.
