Rank: Private 1st Class. Inducted into the United States Marine Corps April 24, 1940 and received his Basic Combat Infantry Training at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot, San Diego, California. Served in the Pacific Theater and experienced combat with Kilo Company, 3rd Battalion, 8th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine ‘The Silent Second’ Division. Participated in the invasion of Guadalcanal (Invasion Dates: August 7, 1942-February 9, 1943) Solomon Islands Campaign, Code Name: Operation Watchtower. Reported missing in action Wednesday, November 11, 1942 after a combat engagement with the Japanese Imperial Forces. In memory, he is memorialized in the Tablets of the Missing at the Manila American Cemetery and Memorial, located at Fort Bonifacio, Philippine Islands. He is honored at the Guadalcanal American Memorial located on Skyline Drive overlooking the town of Honiara. Decoration and Citation: Purple Heart. This American Patriot was awarded the Purple Heart, who so gallantly gave his life for his country.
