Rank: Platoon Sergeant. He was a United States Marine, who served in the Pacific Theater and experienced combat with Headquarters Service Company, 1st Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine ‘The Old Breed’ Division. Participated in the Battle of Cape Gloucester which took place on the Island of New Britain, a Territory of New Guinea (Dates of Battle: December 1943-April 1944), Code Name: Operation Cartwheel. Friday, March 3, 1944 he was killed in Action and buried in a U.S. Army battlefield cemetery on the Island of New Britain. After the cessation of hostilities with Japan, his remains were transferred to the Manila American Cemetery located at Fort Bonifacio, Manila, Philippine Islands. This Marine was an American Patriot, who so gallantly gave his life for his country.
