Served on D-Day+3 and was wounded in his knee at the Battle of Aachen. He returned to battle in November 1944, Where he continued to fight for his country until the end of the war. He was awarded the Purple Heart, European Theater of Operations with 4 stars, the French Croix de Guerre, good conduct and a WWII victory medal. He was honorably discharged in October 1945. He has since been posthumously awarded the Bronze Star for his actions at the battle of Aachen.
