Activity During WWII

Technical Sergeant, Radio Technician. Inducted at Fort Benjamin Harrison, Indianapolis, Indiana. Trained and assigned to Headquarters Company, 26th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division, at Camp Blanding, Starke, Florida. Deployed to England as part of Operation Torch, landing at Oran, Algeria, for action through the capture of Tunisia, North Africa. Then Operation Husky, the assault on Sicily, and return to England in preparation for the D-Day Invasion of Normandy. Attached to the U.S. 1st Army through France, the Battle of the Bulge, across the Rhine at Remagen, and into the Ruhr Pocket. While attached to General Patton's 3rd Army, pushed through the Harz Mountains into Czechoslovakia at war's end. Awarded the Bronze Star Medal for heroic action while engaged in battle in Germany. Returned to Camp Atterbury, Indiana, for separation from the service.
