Activity During WWII

Served in Army Infantry 1943 to 1945. Trained in Texas, Oklahoma, Virginia. Shipped from New York to England, then to France, and through Belgium into Germany. As replacement troops, marched into combat in Huertgen forest, serving as Radioman, in December 1944. Unit suffered many casualties from the German 'exploding trees' shelling. On mission to guide medics to rescue a wounded officer, came under German sniper fire, and landed on land mine, severely wounded but survived. Evacuated to Paris, then to Bushnell Army Hospital in Utah for lengthy recovery.
