Activity During WWII

Served from 1935 to 1966. Graduated from the U.S. Navy submarine school in 1940. During WWII he served in both the Atlantic and Pacific theaters. After the Pearl Harbor attack he was assigned for duty on the USS Runner and also served on the USS Bunker Hill CV-17 with task forces 38 and 58. Upon the surrender of the Japanese in 1945 he was assigned to the flagship USS Fall River for the inspection and securing of all Japanese ports and harbors. Received 32 medals including 3 Presidential Commendations, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with Combat V and Presidential Citation with Bronze Star.
