Rank: Staff Sergeant. Served in the Mediterranean Theater of Operations assigned to the U.S. Army, 3rd Chemical Mortar Battalion. Wednesday, January 12, 1944 he was killed in action and buried in a battle field cemetery in Italy. After the cessation of hostilities in Europe, his remains were transferred to the Sicily-Rome American Cemetery located at Nettuno, Italy. Decoration and Citation: Purple Heart and the French Croix de Guerre. This Soldier, an American Patriot awarded the Purple Heart posthumously, who so gallantly gave his life for his country.
