Activity During WWII

Rank: Private 1st Class. Inducted into the United States Marine Corps March 10, 1944 and deployed to the Pacific Theater after his Combat Infantry Training. Served as a Rifleman assigned to Charlie Company, 1st Battalion, 23rd Marine Regiment, 4th Marine ‘The Fighting Fourth’ Division. Participated in the amphibious assault on the Volcanic Island of Iwo Jima (Battle Dates: February 19-March 26, 1945), Code Name: Operation Detachment. Monday, February 26, 1945 he was killed in action and buried in the Fourth Marine Division battlefield cemetery on Iwo. After the cessation of hostilities with Japan, his remains were returned to his country and family, with interment in the Eaton Cemetery, Eaton, Colorado. This Marine, an American Patriot, so gallantly gave his life for his country.
