He enlisted in the Army Air Corps on 02/12/1945 in St. Louis, Missouri. He changed the date on his birth certificate, so that is showed that he was 17 instead of his true age 15. He was sent to Fort Riley, Kansas for basic training. He was then sent to Gunnery Training. Shortly after he was sent overseas to England, to Farmer's Field with the 8th Air Force, 64th squad, #343 group. He was a Radioman and Gunner and flew in the B-17. Their mission was to bomb strategic targets in Germany. When Germany surrendered his group was sent to Giebelstadt Army Air Field, then Guam, Arizona and Panama. In Panama he was stationed at the Albrook Air Force Base with the 5th Air Force, 1806-2 detachment. He continued to serve after WWII.
